My adventures with Ingo

Here’s a story of how I got conned twice by local Thais. Did I mention that I have a roommate called Ingo? When I entered my room after checking in, it was empty but I found a bed that was occupied. Looking at the tag next to the bed, I saw the name, Ingo. After I returned to the hostel from Chatuchak Weekend Market, the room was still empty. I was bushed that I crashed into my bed and fell asleep almost immediately. When I woke up, I saw Ingo chilling out in his bed. Ingo is from Germany, who is spending a few days in Germany before flying to China to meet his girlfriend..

Visiting Chatuchak Weekend Market

I read that Chatuchak Weekend Market,is very popular shopping centre to Thais and has become a popular place to tourists and foreigners who visit Bangkok. So I planned my flight to Bangkok in the wee Saturday morning so that I would reach Bangkok in the morning and be able to visit Chatuchak Weekend Market after checking into the hostel. To get to Chatuchak Weekend Market, you need to take a ride on the BTS to Mo Chit station and simply follow the crowd. That was the directions provided by the hostel staff. So I walked back to National Stadium station to take the train down to Siam station where I switched to the green line where Mo Chit is the final station..

Consider staying in hostels instead of hotels

The¬†Suvarnabhumi Airport is very similar to Changi Airport in the sense that getting to the city, is very easy. You can choose to take a cab, the Airport Rail Link, or the City Line train (BTS). I chose the cheapest option, which was to ride the City Line train which stops at every station, all the way to Phaya Thai station. It’s really efficient how temporary rides are done with a plastic round chip that is used to tapped at the gantry to enter but deposited into the gantry to exit..

Thailand, here I come!

It’s 5am in the morning when I arrived at the Budget Terminal in Changi Airport. I had never been to the Budget Terminal before and I was kinda curious what it would be like. Turns out that the Budget Terminal was very different! Unlike Terminal 1 and 2 where the interior looks posh and classy and passengers are casually walking to their flight gates, the Budget Terminal gave me the impression that I was teleported into India. The place was noisy and packed with people rushing around..
