Preparing for my Mount Kinabalu adventure

It takes only 2 days to climb up and down Mount Kinabalu, but it takes a much longer time to plan for the trip, both equipment and physical fitness.

Physical training

With only 5 weeks to train myself for the trip so it is important to be focused. I didn’t really like running so the next best thing for me is swimming which trains both upper and lower body strength. I’ve been swimming 40-50 laps every other day for a full body workout (except the week that I was backpacking in Cambodia). I also plan to include a hike over the weekend from Bukit Timah to MacRitchie.

Equipment Packing List

As I will be trekking up to over 4000 meters above sea level, the challenge will be to keep the backpack as light as possible.
